- A member must be fully aware of and agree to abide by the SALI Constitution.
- A member must be able to fulfil the Conditions of Membership.
- A member must maintain the high standards of workmanship demanded by SALI detailed in the Specification Document.
- A member must adhere to the SALI Code of Conduct and the Code of Ethics.
- A member's work can at any time be subjected to SALI inspection.
- Continued membership can depend on the outcome of this inspection.
- A member must submit a project of his choosing bi-annually to the awards of excellence to confirm his commitment to standard.
The Institute's principal objectives are:
- To encourage high standards of workmanship
- To encourage through training groups, the training and re-training of staff of SALI members in the diverse skills of landscaping.
- To provide facilities, where necessary, for mediation
- To bring greater awareness of the landscape industry's participation in creating an improved environment
- To draw attention to the best contributions made to this end, by way of the Annual Awards of Excellence.
After Membership is attained:
- Constant advertising and media coverage of the SALI body initiates many new enquiries for jobs.
- There is a greater chance of referrals being successful if the public know that you are a current member of SALI.
- SALI keeps you in contact with the movement on all alien plant listings that are taking place in South Africa. SALI is associated with IPSA , LIA , SANA , ILASA , BALI and Canada
- SALI puts you in contact with Worldwide green functions.
